A Physician's Approach to Natural Anti-Aging

Anti-aging is a term I have some hesitation about. It frames aging as something to fight, when what most of my patients actually want is simpler than that. They want to feel like themselves. They want to look in the mirror and recognize the person looking back, rested and comfortable in their own skin.

That is a goal I can get behind, and it is what medical aesthetics, done thoughtfully, is really about.

I recently returned from a medical aesthetics conference, and what struck me most was how much the science has matured. The treatments that hold up under scrutiny are the ones that work with your body's own biology rather than around it. That is the same principle behind the regenerative medicine I practice on the sports side, and it shapes how I approach aesthetics too.

The Principle Behind What I Offer

Your body is capable of remarkable repair when it is given the right inputs. Skin, like tendon or cartilage, responds to signals that tell it to produce collagen, regenerate, and renew. The treatments I offer are built around stimulating those natural processes rather than masking the surface.

This matters because it changes what the results look like. Treatments that work with your biology tend to develop gradually and look natural, because they are prompting your own tissue to do the work.

RF Microneedling

Radiofrequency microneedling combines the collagen-stimulating effect of traditional microneedling with radiofrequency energy delivered into the deeper layers of the skin. That means collagen remodeling is happening at multiple tissue depths at once, not just at the surface.

The device I use is the Scarlet SRF, which is FDA-cleared and designed to minimize surface trauma while maximizing the deeper effect. In practice, that translates to less redness, minimal downtime, and results that continue to develop over the months that follow as new collagen matures. It is one of the more effective non-surgical options for acne scarring, skin laxity, sun damage, and texture.

Exosome Therapy

Exosomes are tiny vesicles that cells use to communicate and coordinate repair. Applied to the skin during and after RF microneedling, they amplify the healing response and can improve outcomes beyond what microneedling achieves on its own. I also use them as part of hair restoration.

Exosome research is moving quickly, and I expect the clinical applications to keep expanding. What I offer now reflects the uses with the strongest mechanistic rationale and the best results I have seen in my own patients.

Medical-Grade Facials and Aquafirme XS

Not everything needs to be intensive. Aquafirme XS is a non-invasive treatment that combines gentle exfoliation with the infusion of active ingredients, cleansing and hydrating the skin with no discomfort and no downtime. It works well for dull or dehydrated skin, and it pairs nicely as a preparatory step before RF microneedling or as recovery support afterward.

Many patients use it before an event or as regular maintenance between more intensive treatments.

Hair Restoration

Thinning hair is one of the concerns patients raise most tentatively, often as an afterthought. It deserves the same serious attention as anything else. The DE|RIVE protocol I offer is non-surgical and needle-free, combining scalp micro-cupping, plant-based serums, and exosome therapy to support the scalp environment and stimulate the biology behind hair growth.

It is not right for everyone, and I will tell you honestly if I think you are past the stage where it is likely to help. But for patients in earlier stages of thinning, it is worth understanding what is possible.

Why It Matters That a Physician Is Involved

Aesthetic treatments are offered by a wide range of providers with varying levels of training. As a physician, I approach every treatment as a medical decision. That means a real evaluation first, an honest conversation about what the evidence supports, and a plan built around your biology and goals rather than a standard menu applied to everyone.

It also means I am looking at the whole picture, including factors that might be contributing to how your skin or hair looks that have nothing to do with a treatment I could sell you.

How to Know What Is Right for You

That is what an initial consultation is for. I do not have a single protocol I apply to everyone. I ask about your history, your goals, and what you have already tried, I assess your skin or scalp, and then we make a shared decision about what makes sense and why.

Caring for your skin, scalp, and hair is part of caring for your overall wellbeing, in the same way that movement and rest are. If you have been curious about where to start, I would be glad to talk it through.

No referral needed. No insurance required. Book a consultation directly at leewardhealth.me.

I'll take time to discuss all of it.
