How Care at Leeward Health + Wellness Works
"Do I need a referral? Do I have to sign up for a membership? Are you taking new patients?"
I get some version of these questions every week. And I understand why. The way most people have experienced medical care does not look much like what I do at Leeward Health + Wellness.
No insurance. No referrals. No forms to fill out. No one at a front desk telling you the next available appointment is six weeks out.
That is by design, and the questions are worth answering.
What direct care means
Direct care is a practice model in which I work directly with you, without insurance as the intermediary. You pay me for my time and expertise. Your care is not filtered through a coverage policy written by someone who has never met you.
In a traditional practice, visit structure, treatment options, and how long I spend with you are all shaped by what insurance will reimburse. In direct care, none of that applies. I can spend the time your situation requires. I can recommend the treatment I think is right for you.
Patients tell me it feels different from the first visit.
Do you need a referral?
No. You can schedule directly with me without a referral from another provider. If you have a shoulder that has been bothering you for months, or you are curious about osteopathic manipulative treatment or regenerative medicine, you can book a consultation and we will figure out together what you need.
Is Dr. Lee taking new patients?
Yes. I am currently accepting new patients across all service lines: sports medicine, osteopathic manipulative treatment, and regenerative medicine.
How to schedule an appointment
Scheduling is self-service at leewardhealth.me. You can book at any time without calling or waiting for a callback. If you have questions before booking, you are welcome to reach us by phone or email as well.
New patients always start with a consultation, regardless of what you are coming in for. This gives me the chance to understand your history and goals before we discuss any specific treatment. Once we have had that initial visit, established patients can schedule follow-up appointments and procedures directly.
Do you have to sign up for a membership?
No. A membership is not required to be seen at Leeward Health + Wellness.
Members receive exclusive discounts on certain services, and for many patients the savings add up quickly. But for others, a fee-per-service approach makes more sense. After your initial consultation, we will talk through both options and figure out together which one fits your situation.
Membership also requires that initial consultation first. I want to meet you, understand your health picture, and make sure it is a good fit before you commit to anything.
What to expect at your first visit
Your first visit starts with a conversation. I want to understand what has been going on, how long it has been happening, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping to accomplish.
Depending on what you come in for, I may review imaging, perform a physical exam, perform an ultrasound scan, or perform Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. I will share my assessment of what I think is going on and what options are worth considering, including when I think you would be better served by someone else.
There is no pressure to commit to a treatment plan on the spot. I'll take time to make sure you understand your options before you decide anything.
If you have been sitting on a question about whether Leeward Health + Wellness is the right fit, this is a good time to find out. You can book a consultation at leewardhealth.me, or reach us by phone or email if you would like to talk it through first.
No referral needed. No insurance required.
I'll take time to discuss all of it.
